SOY SAUCE VINEGAR DIPPING SAUCE
The Filipino dipping sauce is a flavor explosion which is tangy, salty and spicy. Make this soy and vinegar-based sauce at home. With only 6 ingredients and 5 minutes to put together, it makes the ideal sauce for anyone with little time.

- 1/2 c soy sauce
- 1/2 c vinegar
- 1 tsp garlic minced
- 1 tsp onion minced
- pinch pepper ground
- 1 chilli
In a clean jar or bowl, pour the soy sauce and vinegar.
Add the aromatics and spices.
If using a jar, put the lid on and shake to combine the ingredients. If using a bowl, stir vigorously.
Use straight away or let sit for 10 minutes before use to let the aromatics infuse.
Notes:
- Soy sauce - any soy sauce that is available on hand but if you want to try an authentic Filipino dipping sauce try Filipino soy sauce, check for saltiness as you go along
- Vinegar - cane vinegar is recommended but other kinds of vinegar like cider, white wine or rice vinegar are totally fine
- Garlic - peeled and sliced or crushed with the skin on, this is optional but if you are feeling fancy
- Onion - sliced or chopped, use shallots, brown or yellow onion
- Pepper - both whole and ground pepper or any to add heat
- Chilli - Thai chillies were used for this recipe but any chilli will work and add as much or as little as you want or none at all
