Why you’ll like this recipe
- Quick and easy – This recipe can be made and ready in 10 minutes. It only requires chopping and tossing ingredients.
- Light and refreshing – made with fresh ingredients, pico de gallo is scrumptious with tortilla, meats, tacos and or burritos
Ingredients and Substitutions
Tomatoes – Ripe Roma tomatoes are recommended and traditionally used in most recipes. Roma tomatoes are firmer and less juicy than other types of tomatoes. If they are not available grape or cherry tomatoes or San Marzano tomatoes are kinds that have low water content. If the only available tomatoes were juicy, the end product would be different but still delicious.
Onion – I used white onions in this recipe but feel free to use red onion if it is what’s available.
Pepper – I used jalapeno for this recipe. Use serrano peppers if you want a spicier pico de gallo.
Coriander – .
Lime juice – Add a generous amount of fresh lime juice to make this recipe a success.
Salt and pepper – Season to the ingredients well and to your liking.
Optional ingredients include garlic.
