Savoury cottage cheese dip is a great snack for any time of the day. This recipe only calls for 4 ingredients which is handy. One ingredient that might seem unfamiliar is zaatar. It is a seasoning, a mix of herbs from the Middle East. It is available online or in supermarkets in the spice section which will transform dips, meat even sandwich recipes.
Well well, do you sometimes feel adventurous and want something different from what you usually have? Why not try a spicy cottage cheese dip? By all means, whip the cottage cheese but have it chunky if you don’t mind because it wil make the experience different.
Ingredients and Substitutions
Cottage cheese – choose a good quality tub of cheese and you are ready to go, go for low-fat if you wish as well. Whip the cottage cheese if you are not a fan of its texture. You may replace it with cream cheese especially if you like a creamy and smooth texture.
Olive oil – go for extra virgin olove oil for fruity flavor but use your favorite olive oil too
Zaatar or za’atar – find this spice blend from the supermarket or online, use dried oregano and thyme with sesame seeds if you can’t find zaatar. Substitute with fresh herbs like chives or parsley or dill for a fresh taste and aroma.
Chilli flakes – leave out if you prefer your dip without the heat of chillies or add crushed black or white pepper instead
